Why You Should Have a Nighttime Skincare Routine and What to Include?

elluna organic beauty dubai

Always say yes to having a nighttime skincare routine. At night our skin rejuvenates and has a better capacity at absorbing nutrients and products you apply to it. Hence why it is always advised to remove your makeup before bed to avoid having those chemicals eat away at your skin.

Additionally, your nighttime routine can be more effective than your morning routine, because during the day you expose your skin to environmental factors that might affect how your skin absorbs the product. However, during the night – as you sleep – your skin has a 1 on 1 with the products you apply making it more effective.

You may have heard different variations of what a nighttime routine looks like, this is because it varies from one person to another depending on what works for their skin and what their skin needs to be healthy. Nevertheless, there are some staple products/steps that should be part of your routine before bed.

Your nighttime routine should make you wake up with radiant skin looking fresh and clean. Here are the steps for your nighttime routine:

Remove makeup

Removing your makeup is a very important step that clears your skin from all the chemicals or products that your skin shouldn’t absorb for a long time. Make sure you choose a gentle remover that would not dry your skin out.

Cleanse

A cleanser after your makeup remover will help remove impurities and any traces of makeup left that the makeup remover didn’t take off. This step makes sure that your pores are not clogged by any impurities so that the following steps work effectively.

Tone

Using a toner next helps smoothen your skin and balances your pH levels. Toners work wonders for those with oily skin.

Serum

Apply serums on troubled areas like acne, uneven skin tone, and blemishes. Consistent use of serums in your nighttime routine can help you diminish or fully eliminate those problems.

Moisturizer

Choose a moisturizer that is gentle on your skin, it should be able to hydrate without clogging your pores so that your skin can breathe throughout the night and repair itself.

Lip balm

Lips are often an overlooked part of the skincare routine. They get exposed to a lot of elements like dirt and oil so it needs to get the proper moisture and nutrients to keep them soft, healthy, and plump.

If you have any special treatments for your skin, it is best to apply them after your toner. Every once in a while we would also recommend using face masks for an added pamper layer to your skin, this can go on after applying your moisturizer.

Following consistent nighttime and morning skincare routine will have a positive effect on your skin making it healthy, even, and clean. Share with us any skincare questions you might have in the comments below on our Instagram.
